Katie’s thoughts on the Miss World motto, “Beauty With A Purpose”
“I believe that beauty is a unique attribute bestowed on us in many different ways, and it is up to the individual to be responsible for embracing their particular beauty, whether inside or out, in order to assist among their local and wider communities.   The Miss World competition allows everyday young women, from ordinary backgrounds, to have a voice and action their ideas.  It recognises that money does not buy happiness and health, and emphasises that time and devotion are the most valuable gifts that one could give.  My motivation to work hard for charities, and in particular the Randwick Ronald McDonald House, stems from my genuine empathy for those who may not enjoy good health or have access to the basic human rights.  Through a commitment to fundraising and the dedication of time to a charity, I believe that that it is laying the foundations of a pathway, a pathway that will allow you to successfully make a difference in the world.  Therefore, I consider beauty to be the product of a young woman’s determination and strong purpose, which is created by helping people in need.”
